Dozens of wine enthusiasts got up close and personal with the intricacies of Oregon winemaking as Erath Winery hosted the Eola-Amity Hills Vineyard Hike & Lunch as part of the Bounty of Yamhill County festivities on Saturday, Aug. 27.
Vineyard manager Geoff Hall led a two-hour sojourn through Erath’s Willakia Vineyard outside Amity, making notes of the various soil types and micro climates found on the property and how they influence the wines produced there. Samples of Erath’s Pinot Noir and Chardonnay flowed freely so that hikers didn’t simply have to take Hall's word for it. Snacks and a lunch provided by Biscuit and Pickles Catering capped the morning off deliciously.
